Hot Spectrum Draws Cash, and Ideals

From the NYTimes (registration req'd) comes this overview of what is going on with airwaves that have been freed up by digital television, and can be used for wireless broadband and other services.

This probably seems unimportant and arcane to some media people, but it is very important in terms of whether our (USA) technology will continue to trail many other nations (we are around 16th in terms of bandwidth available to our citizenry) or whether we might actually become a contender once more.
