Google Earth the Policeman and Taxman's Tool?

From busting pot-growers, to catching tax cheats who put on costly home additions and try to hide them from officials like the assessor, to locating highway accident patterns so that safety can improved, Google Earth is the go-to tool today. This is a fascinating overview of how law-breakers and law-enforcement and public officials are taking advantage of the satellite views of our blue planet.

Drive too fast sometimes? Check out the plug-in that shows where police speed cameras are located -- oh, that is only for Western Europe.

At the same time, some Google Earth users have found a way to use the service that law enforcement probably wishes they weren't. One database shows the location of hundreds of speed cameras--those used by police to automatically catch people speeding--all over Western Europe.
