E-paper edging closer to everyday use

This paper uses "compounds" that are sensitive to various wavelengths of light and change color and eventually disappear. So, you could print out something to read on the train on the way to work, and then print the evening paper to read on the way home. That is my characterization. They are just developing this, and the erase time is 16-24 hours.
As XRCC works on the paper, PARC is working on a printer that will use bars of light to transfer images to this paper. They are at the "we can do it" stage, but not yet at the "we can sell it" stage.

The "a-ha" moment came from developing compounds that change color when they absorb a certain wavelength of light but then will gradually disappear. In its present version, the paper self-erases in about 16-24 hours and can be used multiple times.
