Fish Wrap No More: News"papers" Packing Pixels with Punch

Newspapers are dead. Long live newspapers. With the spread of broadband, and Wal-Mart featuring some pretty affordable PCs, iPhones and Blackberries jumping into more and more hands, how can good news lose as it starts to become more than "shovelware" and exploits an unlimited news hole, interactivity and the ability to put stories in all sorts of interesting contexts.

Who doesn't like to take citizen news, blogs, and mash them up in their own minds with stories from "MSM" (mainstream media) publications. How long before we get decent and affordable e-paper (my criteria is can I roll it up and stick it in my bag?) and forests everywhere will sigh with relief.

59 million people (37.3 percent of all active Internet users) visited newspaper Web sites during the second quarter of 2007, a record number that represents a 7.7 percent increase over the same period a year ago,.
