Should online video of presidential debates be free for public use and remix?

Mark Glaser at MediaShift is asking people to weigh in on whether video of presidential debates should be "copylefted" and open to the public. Since the broadcast airwaves have been co-opted by commercial interests who do not seem to make adequate payments or trade-offs with we, the public, who own those airwaves, it seems that "allowing" voters in a democratic society to have access to the video is more than fair. What do you think?
